Cardano (ADA) has the lowest electricity consumption per node

Cardano has the lowest electricity consumption (199,45 kWh/year) per node among proof-of-stake blockchain networks. That’s according to a report by the Crypto Carbon Ratings Institute, which was commissioned by AvaLabs and studied six proof-of-stake blockchains. Overall, Polkadot has the lowest total electricity consumption (70.237 kWh/year), while Solana has the lowest electricity consumption per transaction (0,166 Wh/Tx).

Cardano is a blockchain-based project in the field of cryptocurrencies launched by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson. The objective is to scientifically research known difficulties of previous blockchain projects and offer solutions. Launched in 2015, the project aims to create a decentralized platform for complex, programmable transfers of value and smart contracts with scalability and security in mind.
